St. Cecilia School is a school of Community Connections. Parents and Parishioners are welcome in the classrooms to assist with many things. In addition, all families are encouraged to volunteer with our various fundraisers. A word about service hours.....
Tuition, although a large investment in your child's education, does not cover the full cost of educating our students. Volunteers are essential to the support of the school and to moderate operating costs. Fundraising and community involvement are important and integral aspects for the continued existence of St. Cecilia Catholic School, and help build genuine community. The following information is intended to ensure that families are aware of the expectations of their participation in the life of our school.
During each school year, families are required to complete a minimum of 30 Service Hours over the course of the school year. For Preschool-only families the commitment is a total of 20 Service Hours. At lest 20 of these hours (10 for Preschool-only families) must go towards Fundraising efforts, and the remainder may go towards non-fundraising activities, such as in school service hours. Please be advised that your entire Service Hours commitment may be in Fundraising.
* Fundraising Hours: Families must dedicate a minimum of 20 hours on a major fundraiser (10 hours for Preschool-only families). Fundraising hours MUST be performed. Major fundraisers include Rock the Rock or replacement, Lenten Fish Dinners, and the St. Nicholas Festival.
* Additional Service Hours: All families must dedicate a minimum of 10 hours of service to the school. These hours may be spent on things such as helping in the classroom, lunchroom, or field trips. They may also be on fundraising activities. These 10 Service Hours may be "bought out" at the rate of $25 per hour.
* Each family is responsible for reporting their hours at the time of completion. Service hours will not be accepted later than the trimester end within which the service activity occurs. The success of our events is due to the strength of our volunteers and their efforts. When you sign up for a volunteer assignment and a conflict arises, please notify the chairperson as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to find a secure a replacement to fulfill your shift(s) and advise the chairperson who your replacement will be. The time associated with your shift(s) will not be credited if you cannot complete your assignment.
There are many opportunities for service at St. Cecilia Catholic School. Performing the school's basic functions, staging its community-building events, and raising the necessary funds require every family's participation.
Please also remember that, in order to volunteer at any school function, a current background check must be on file, along with your Safe Environment training certificate. And, due to liability issues, younger siblings may not accompany when assisting at the school.

Everyone who volunteers with our students must pass a background check and take a Safe Environment Training Class. Print out and complete the Background Check Request and turn it into the school office. Safe Environment Classes are offered regularly throughout the Archdiocese. Register online in advance. Volunteers only take the in-person class. Each year thereafter every volunteer needs to take an annual online class. Click here for instructions.
