Completed in June, Enrolling Now

St. Cecilia's new Faith Center was dedicated on Sunday, June 27, 2010.  Here is a link to some photos of the event and the building by photographer David Cohen.  We are excited to be in our beautiful new facility.

Here is the Construction Corner Update, as included in our parish bulletins. If you are in the area, drive by and watch us grow!

6/15/10 - Exterior landscaping is under way.  Furnishings are ordered.  Plans are under way for the building dedication to be held June 27 at the 10:00 am Mass.

5/27/10 - Exterior concrete work is completed.  Landscaping has begun.  Exterior railings are being installed.  The interior of the building is being cleaned and finish/trim work is being completed.

5/6/10 - Work continues on schedule.  The building exterior is painted and the cross is installed.  Sidewalks and concrete slabs are being poured.  On the interior, the electric and plumbing are almost complete, as is the painting and tile work.

2/28/10 - Go online and view a short film (two parts, 14 minutes total) titled "Finishing Our Faith Center" created by our resident media wizard Mary Dombrowski. In addition to viewing the new art and landscape elements for the Faith Center, artists and fundraisers from Saint Cecilia Parish display their talents as they seek the last few $$ to "Jazz Up" the new Faith Center. Go to www.youtube.com and search "Finishing Our Faith Center."

1/31/10 - In the Faith Center, the new parish offices have been painted. The sheet rocking of the rest of the first floor is almost complete. We have completed the west outside wall along Madison; this will allow everyone to walk along the sidewalk and see what the exterior will look like. Plans are under way for artwork in the Faith Center and for landscaping.

1/17/10 - Tour of the new Faith Center - In December the parish and school staff had the opportunity to tour our new Faith Center. Wearing hard hats we left the construction trailer, walked past the equipment, and climbed the plank into the beautiful new space. It is awesome! The entire building is laid out to be very welcoming, bright, and efficient. Father Carroll pointed out many places where the new art will enhance the basic structure.

Entering from the school side, the entry area is spacious. Father Emmett said that the notes for "Amazing Grace" will be etched into glass around the reception area. The school office area is laid out well and the classrooms are large. The many large windows will admit lots of natural light. Each classroom will have a mural on one wall. The middle school classroom overlooks the church and courtyard.

The parish office area is also spacious and efficiently laid out. Father Emmett's office and conference room are next to the bell tower. He has a beautiful view of the church. The new entry area will be very welcoming to all. And won't it be great to have the photocopier and supplies in a separate work room! In addition to offices for the current staff, there is a new ministries office, where the Liturgy Committee and Music Ministries can work and store their many items.

Our young people will love the fireplace room. Two sets of glass double doors open onto the courtyard. In good weather they can open both sets of doors and flow in and out easily. The basement will be a wonderful meeting space and library, with lots of room for storage.

Thank you Father Emmett for your leadership for our parish and our new Faith Center! It is a testament to the faith of our community and will help build Christ's kingdom here on Bainbridge Island. Thank you to the many volunteers, and everyone who has supported our capital campaign and construction project.

1/17/10 - This past week was a busy one for the St. Cecilia Faith Center. The west wing (new parish offices) was signed off on framing, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, and the new sewer connection was finished. Next steps will include insulating and sheet rocking the parish offices, installing a new water/fire sprinkler line, finishing the rough-in on the main level, and beginning to insulate the rest of the main floor.

1/3/10 - The extra trusses piled in the corner by our former grotto were too big by an inch and a half. They were to have roofed the office area of the education wing. The contractor is correcting his error. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

12/27/09 - Progress continues on the St. Cecilia Faith Center. This past week was a busy one that included finishing the southwest stairs and the roofing, installing permit power and new sanitary tanks, and completing a walk-through with Father and church staff. On-going construction tasks include framing, roughing in the HVAC and electrical, preparing the site for sewer and fire prevention, and installing doors and windows. In the next week, all of these will continue and the workers will begin roughing in the fire suppression, framing the interior center stairs on the north wall, and will have the new parish office and youth room inspected for framing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
