Pre-Kindergarten

Learning is a joyful experience for 4-year-old and young 5-year-old children* at Saint Cecilia. Our Pre-Kindergarten program provides the perfect balance of structure, caring, discipline and nurturing as students embark on their first experiences with what will become the foundations for math, science, social studies, art, language, music movement and dramatic play.

*Entering students must meet the age requirement by August 31.

Curriculum Highlights


Pre-Kindergarten

Our older students serve as role models for Pre-Kindergarten children. Pre-Kindergarten students are joined by older students who come to the Pre-Kindergarten classroom as “reading buddies.” All students visit the public library regularly.

Pre-Kindergarten students work on

  • Making friends and collaborating with others
  • Expressing themselves and listening attentively
  • Writing, reading and numbers
  • Developing fine motor and gross motor skills

Jessica Toukatly

About

Jessica Toukatly graduated from Florida State University (FSU) with a BA in English Literature and studied abroad in London, UK and Sydney and Cairns, Australia. She returned to London to work as a Program Assistant at FSU’s London Study Centre advising and supporting students, faculty, and staff. She then continued her education at the University of Westminster obtaining a Postgraduate Certification of Visual Culture. She was most recently teaching kindergarten and 1st graders at an after school program as well as tutoring English Language Learners at Montlake Elementary for the Seattle Public School District.

Jessica’s teaching philosophy is heart centered, encouraging creativity and nurturing imagination. Her priority in the classroom is to create a safe and supportive educational environment and prepare our youngest learners for their future as scholars.
