3rd Grade & 4th Grade

During their elementary school years, children grow in competence, confidence and awareness. It’s a time of building skills and exploring new concepts. Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to nurture our students intellectually, creatively and spiritually.

Curriculum Highlights


3rd Grade & 4th Grade

  • Scope and Sequence for  3rd and 4th Grade
  • Social Studies: Focus on Washington State and Oregon Trail Story Path
  • Singapore Math guided by the Common Core State Standards
  • Writers workshop with emphasis on expository and narrative writing and poetry. Accelerated Reader (AR) is used to give students reading goals that to support and challenge them.
  • Science is guided by Next Generation Science Standards. One science unit is per Trimester: 2017-2018 topic were the Human Body, Physics of Sound & Water with several field trips throughout the year.

Natalie Phelps


3rd/4th Grade Instructor

About

Mrs. Natalie Phelps was born and raised in Washington State.  She attended Whitman College, where she earned her Bachelors of Arts in History with a minor in Studio Art.  After graduating, she was accepted into University Child Development School's teacher residency program.  She also earned a Masters of Arts Education from the University of North Carolina.  She has experience teaching grades 3rd through 8th in a variety of school systems both in the United States and abroad including:  American Public Schools, International Baccalaureate, British National, Bilingual and Montessori.  She recently moved to Bainbridge Island with her husband and two year old son.
