Grace Notes for December 14

Serving Others

By: Mrs. Amy Lee-Despard

Each year, our 7th/8th graders participate in providing gifts for the Saint Cecilia Giving Tree. This year the class picked three slips from the tree for children close to their own age.  Students sold Candy Grams, a candy cane flavored Tootsie pop attached to a fun reindeer notecard, to their fellow students to be delivered to friends during the week before Christmas Break. The Candy Grams not only raised money for the giving tree but promoted positive relationships throughout the school.

When students get involved in a service project like this, they not only help others-they also expand their worldview, develop empathy, and practice being servant leaders. Students realize how their actions can directly have a positive impact on others. Students are blessed to live out the core teachings of Christ and express concretely their love for God and their neighbor.

With joy,

Susan
