Suyematsu Farm Pumpkin Patch

Our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders enjoyed a lovely visit to the pumpkin patch at
Suyematsu Farm on Bainbridge Island last month. Students loved choosing their own
pumpkin!

Once students returned to school, 1st /2nd grade teacher Ms. Carson used the pumpkins as
the basis for her Language Arts and Art lessons for the week. Students drew out how they
were going to decorate their pumpkin. They then wrote a story to go with their design. To
culminate the activity, they painted their pumpkins.

This field trip provided our students hands-on learning experiences, continued to build our
community and it generated an appreciation for our beautiful environment.

With joy,

Susan Kilbane
