Grace Notes for May 25

Holy Spirit

Last month, 20 students from our parish and our school were confirmed. A huge thank you to Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation Stacy Dixon and Father Mark for preparing students for the Sacrament of Confirmation and for organizing such a beautiful Mass and reception. Every part of the evening was grace filled.

Music Director Emily Neer led the choir and instrumentalists. Their voices and the music were spectacular.

I was delighted that two of our SCCS 8th graders and two of our SCCS alumni were the altar servers for the Confirmation Mass.

Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo said to the Confirmation candidates, “Take a deep breath. Relax. It’s a celebration. It’s your celebration. The best thing we have to give to the world is to smile in gratitude. Go and do something for someone, just for the joy of it. Invite others in.”

And to parents he said, “May the witness of your life teach your children love and forgiveness.”

As Auxiliary Bishop Elizondo anointed each candidate with the chrism oil, we all could hear his words repeated to each student:

Be sealed by the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Peace be with you.
Thank you.

AMEN!

With joy and gratitude,
Principal Susan Kilbane
